how we work
Our work involves careful consideration of place — the people and communities who occupy and use it, and the stories and natural systems that make it specific and unique.
We use our design training to enable communities to have a voice – inviting and empowering them to become critical advisors to our wider design team. Through this intentional community partnership, we’re always able to frame all project outcomes through a lens of not only data, design, and history, but more importantly, through both radical authenticity and emotion.
Our projects are designed to age gracefully. We use durable, low-maintenance materials and embrace the weathering process as an authentic part of the story of any particular work and site. We see nature and the environment as ever-present collaborators.
The case studies below illustrate the numerous different methods in which we integrate art, landscape, storytelling, community engagement, and design to address the nuances of place — weaving together cultural context, site analysis, and data into an experience that is both narrative and memorable.
“A New Nash” reimagines a beloved historic civic park and its surrounding public realm to deliver a master plan both deeply rooted in history and authenticity, yet critically looking to the future (ongoing project — in collaboration with Reed Hilderbrand)
